Before the forthcoming general election in 2023, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)had previously recommended eligible voters use its online site to confirm their polling places.
In a brief message titled “Information for all eligible voters,” the commission offered the advice, noting that it was crucial because it had already moved some allotted voters from crowded polling places to more spacious ones within the same facility to encourage a stress-free voting experience on election day.

Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of INEC, stated during a meeting with the national leaders of political parties on Monday in Abuja that some voters found it difficult to identify their polling places based on feedback from “our officials and accredited observers following the recent nationwide mock accreditation using the BVAS.”
Yakubu recommended people use a special portal on the INEC website to find out where their voting places are located.

1. Go to voters.inecnigeria.org or cvr.inecnigeria.org to access the website. The menu icon is located in the top right corner of the home page, which is where the link takes you.
2. After clicking the icon, a dropdown menu with three options will appear. These choices include Locate a Polling Place, Check Voter’s Status, and Helping.
3. Selecting this will take you to a form that asks for information about your polling unit. State, local government, registration area (ward number), and the name of your voting unit are among them.

4. Keep your Permanent Voter Card close at hand to enter the necessary data. By using the Check Voters Status portal, you may also view all of your information; all you need is your surname and voter identification number.
5. After entering the necessary information, click the “Get Directions” green button. This takes you to Google Maps, which shows you how to get to your polling place.
