Umaru Radda, the candidate for governor of Katsina State, declared on Friday in Abuja that his administration would use technology to combat terrorism and open up barren farmlands for farming. He said that this would revive farming, the foundation of Katsina’s economy, Entrepreneurng report.
“Our people’s primary source of income is agriculture. So we must ensure that our farming population is secure. After meeting the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret. ), at the State House in Abuja on Friday, Radda informed the press that they would use technology as well as local participation to address the security concerns in his state.”
The electorate for governor received his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission in Abuja just a few short hours prior.
According to sources, Yakubu Lado of the Peoples Democratic Party received 486,620 votes, whereas Radda received 859,892 votes to defeat him in the March 18 governorship elections.
But, because Boko Haram bombings continue to target farmers and force many of them to evacuate their properties, the North-Western state has become a hub of terror in recent years.
Gunmen reportedly assaulted Gakurdi village in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State in May 2022, killing at least 15 farmers there.
When insurgents ambushed a caravan of vigilantes in February 2023 on their way to recover stolen cattle, more than 40 of their members were killed.
But, Radda, who made an appearance with Aminu Masari, the current governor of Katsina State, said to State House Correspondents, “I have repeated it over and over that security is our primary priority. We will focus a lot of attention on this sense only when you have peace and security can you travel to the farm, school, hospital, or even the market.
So, security is crucial to our society’s economic progress. And one of the main industries in our state where people are employed in agriculture. And it’s a significant source of income for our people.
“We have to give our people security. And we pledge to work with the locals and use technology to address the security challenges in my state.”
The governor-elect stated that his government had launched a strategic policy assessment with two months until his inauguration and that its suggestions will be put into action after May 29.
“We have implemented our state’s strategic policy, and our strategic policy review committees were just established the day before yesterday.”
Conclusion
We just came here to thank the President for all that he has done for our country and the party as a whole, along with my governor and our leader. Because of his contribution to our victory in Katsina, we began to respect him.
