A fire has burned a section of Queen Elizabeth Hall, a female-only undergraduate residence at the University of Ibadan. The event occurred in the early hours of Thursday, and the exact cause of the fire is unknown at the time of this report.
The blaze mostly affected the Hall Warden and Secretary’s offices, prompting concerns about the safety and security of the facility’s pupils. Mrs. Joke Akinpelu, the university’s Director of Public Relations, confirmed the occurrence and stated that the cause of the fire has yet to be identified, but that investigations are continuing.
“Yes, it’s true. “The offices of both the Hall Warden and the Secretary were affected,” she said, emphasising that the institution is taking the situation seriously and is dedicated to safeguarding the safety of all students. “University officials are expected to release more information as it becomes available.”
The university community is advised to exercise caution and report any strange actions while administrators seek to resolve the situation and assist individuals affected by the fire.
