Mr Fidelis, you wear many hats! You’re a computer engineer, the founder of Osisioma Computers, and an expert in various technological solutions for businesses. Let’s jump right in!
1. What inspired you to create Osisioma Computers and focus on smart technology solutions for businesses?
“I needed to do something to take care of my needs – that’s the honest truth. I didn’t know any other way but to work with my hands, so I focused on what I was good at: computers. It was only after I started the computer business that I noticed many people were taking the hard way instead of the soft way or smart way with technology.
“Most people have computers but don’t use them to their full potential; they’re too comfortable with manual systems. For example, someone will ask a secretary to print out a document for proofreading, make corrections, and then retype it when they could simply comment on it in MS Word. People in the same office still use flash drives to copy files between systems instead of using wireless or wired network sharing. You visit offices and schools today, and there are still so many papers and manual processes of administration.
“That’s when I realized this wasn’t just about meeting my needs anymore – it was about solving a real problem! People need to work smarter, not harder. It became a crusade, a movement for digitalizing businesses and administration to improve people’s lives, replacing manual, slow, and outdated systems of administration.”
2. Out of your six web-based software solutions (SmartSchool Mgmt, SmartOnline Mgmt, etc.), which one has seen the most significant adoption, and why do you think that is?
“We started with SmartSchool Management System, and it has been adopted by many schools with very impressive testimonials about how it’s reshaping school administration. You see, I was a teacher in Enugu State, so I understood the administrative processes and school management – it was my area of strength. I knew exactly what school management needed, so we created the right features to improve school administration, fees tracking, parent-teacher communication, and student information management.”
3. With the growing importance of artificial intelligence, can you tell us more about the custom AI chatbots you develop and how they benefit businesses?
“We recently shifted our focus to Artificial Intelligence because of how dramatically it helped us. Tasks that would take us hours or even days were completed in minutes. It was like a whole new revelation, and we wanted to share this breakthrough with everyone. The main challenge with AI is that most people don’t know how it works or how to get it to do what they want – and that’s where we come in.
“We’ve invested time in studying AI – how it reasons, generates answers, and performs tasks. We’ve developed custom AI agents where we take powerful models like ChatGPT, Anthropic Claude AI, and Gemini, and train them with your specific information: database, business vocabulary, preferences – everything they need to know about you and your business.
“We then build a persona, defining who it is and its purpose, whether that’s a sales agent, banking customer support chatbot, medical virtual assistant, friendly personal assistant, or even a teacher or mentor. We deploy it on your website or PWA app, making it accessible from any device – Android, iPhone, Windows PC, laptop, desktop – allowing 24/7 communication with your Custom AI.
“For instance, visitors to our website can interact with our custom AI agent that’s trained with all our information. Instead of browsing the website traditionally, you can get all the information you need through a conversation with the AI Assistant – it’s like conversational browsing. This has increased our sales by 70% and reduced our customer relationship workload significantly. That’s the power of cutting-edge technology.”
4. In your experience, what are some of the biggest challenges businesses face when it comes to adopting new technologies like smart management systems?
“Over 70% of the responses we get during marketing boil down to one question: “Can we trust you to be there and help us when we need help?” You see, most people still need hand-holding when it comes to technology; they need reliable experts who won’t disappoint. Sometimes, this becomes a challenge, too – some clients want you to become their on-site staff, inputting records and clicking buttons for them. From my experience, what it really comes down to is that people need time to build trust in both the new system and the service provider.”
5. How do you approach customizing your solutions to fit the specific needs of different businesses?
“We strongly believe in personal customization and uniqueness. When we install our school management system, for example, we start with a completely empty database – no teachers, no students, no subjects, no classes, no configuration. Then, we build a fresh system for your school from scratch. While it takes longer than a simple copy-and-paste approach, our clients consistently tell us they love how their portal and website feels like home – from the colours to the logos, everything. This commitment to personalization is one of our strongest features.”
6. Beyond software development, Osisioma Computers also offers web development and graphic design services. How do these services complement your core offerings?
“We actually started as graphic designers before moving into web development, which is why you’ll see elements of graphic design and beautiful packaging in all our work. These services have naturally expanded our client network and opened more opportunities for our Smart Solutions. The skills complement each other perfectly.”
7. Digital skills training is crucial for businesses in today’s world. What kind of training programs do you offer, and who are they targeted towards?
“We currently run digital skills training for teams and workshop seminars. After setting up our Smart Solutions for businesses and schools, we recognized the need to train people, which opened our eyes to the importance of corporate digital skills training. We’ve developed training programs for workers and groups to learn essential digital skills that improve both their personal lives and workplace productivity. Our training covers Office applications, Office Collaboration Tools, AI and Automation, and Graphics and Web Design.”
8. Looking ahead, what exciting technological advancements do you see impacting the future of business administration?
“The future is artificial intelligence, whether you’re ready or not. The developed countries won’t wait for us to catch up, nor will they consult us before flooding the digital world with new technology that we’re not prepared for. One day, we’ll suddenly be expected to have skills we didn’t even know existed. A graduate, worker, or student might come to school one day and face new requirements – if you don’t have these skills, you’re out. Just look at how JAMB introduced CBT, and many students don’t even know what a mouse is until they finish Secondary School.”
9. What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs in the tech industry, especially those in Nigeria?
“If you’re in the tech business or just starting, it’s a good place to be, but you need three essential things: patience, consistency, and good relationships with the people you’re serving. This applies to any business or life pursuit – patience with yourself and those around you, consistency in practice and growth (meaning you should keep doing what you’re doing while finding better ways to do it every day), and, most importantly, focusing on people. We’re all doing whatever we do for other people, so do it well for them to enjoy it, and they’ll pay for it. Don’t give people substandard work and expect them to break the bank.”
10. Entrepreneurng is all about inspiring and connecting fellow entrepreneurs. Is there anything you’d like to share with our audience, a challenge you overcame, or a success story you’d like to highlight?
“I have said much already, but I would emphasize how grateful I am for those around me. Despite all my knowledge, skills, and talent, I need people. When I couldn’t find the right people, I invested in grooming those around me, and they became my greatest assets. Today, I receive numerous business opportunities and connections through people I’ve never met, all because of the meaningful impact I made in the lives of people I did know.”
