On Tuesday, October 1, the Federal Government has proclaimed it a national holiday in observance of the 64th anniversary of the country’s independence.
In a statement released on Saturday, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, stated that Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Interior Minister, made the announcement on behalf of the Federal Government.
The minister wished Nigerians both domestically and overseas a happy anniversary. Additionally, Dr. Tunji-Ojo commended the perseverant and diligent Nigerian men and women, assuring them that their efforts would not go unappreciated.
In keeping with the anniversary’s theme, the minister emphasised that Nigerians must remember the sacrifices made by their forefathers and draw inspiration for the challenges that lie ahead, understanding that unity is the only way to create the Nigeria we all desire.
The release further said, “Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged the citizens to continue to be steadfast in nation-building while wishing Nigerians a Happy Independence Day Anniversary.”
