Save the Children asked Mr Femi Otedola to join the exclusive club of its Vice Presidents in honor of his philanthropic efforts to improve the lives of Nigerian children. The Vice Presidents of Save the Children are a group of high-level supporters and key friends who are actively involved in expanding Save the Children’s work through lobbying, volunteerism, introductions, and donations.
Save the Children works in both humanitarian and development settings in 117 countries across the world.
In order to fulfill its global mandate, the organization collaborates with philanthropists, governments, the United Nations, and other non-governmental organizations to support children and their families in crisis and to ensure that children can learn, survive, and thrive in a safe environment so that they can reach their full potential in life.
Mr. Femi Otedola’s appointment to the Vice Presidents group reflects his long-term commitment to the organization. Mr. Femi Otedola has been supporting Save the Children’s programs on malnutrition prevention and treatment, as well as pushing for excellent education for Nigerian children, since 2019, affecting over 6000 children in the states of Adamawa, Borno, Katsina and Yobe.
In November 2019 Mr Otedola hosted a Gala in Abuja where he made a personal donation of 5 billion Naira.
Save the Children has been working in Nigeria since 2001 and is now active in 13 of the country’s states. It was one of the first groups to respond to the North-East humanitarian crisis, reaching 1.2 million individuals since our response began. Save the Children has been providing food and protection to more over 320,000 internally displaced children and families on a regular basis since then.
Mr Femi Otedola’s worldwide clout and extensive knowledge of the African continent will aid Save the Children’s efforts to form long-term partnerships with stakeholders throughout the continent, resulting in greater impact for African children.
