A gain of N77 billion was achieved by the Nigerian equities market in the last week, bringing the overall market capitalisation closer to the expected N60 trillion barrier. At the moment, the market capitalisation stands at N59.29 trillion.
Positive market optimism was reflected in the All-Share Index, which increased by 0.11 per cent to close at 97,829.02 points.
In comparison to the 1.48 billion shares valued at N38.88 billion that were exchanged in 44,795 deals the week before, a total turnover of 1.95 billion shares worth N35.86 billion was recorded in 48,553 trades over the week.
With 21,099 transactions totalling 1.041 billion shares valued at N16.207 billion, the Financial Services Industry led the way in terms of volume, accounting for 53.34 per cent and 45.19 per cent of the total equity turnover volume and value, respectively.
The services sector came in third with 141.184 million shares worth N779.166 million in 3,072 deals, followed by the oil and gas sector with 273.407 million shares valued at N6.717 billion in 5,489 deals.
