Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide and the Chancellor and Chairman of the Board of Regents of Covenant University, disclosed that in order to found Covenant University, he had understudied nine prestigious international universities, including Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Columbia, Caltech, MIT, Stanford, Duke, and Dartmouth.
Oyedepo founded Covenant University, which has accomplished an impressive milestone by ranking first in Nigeria and sixth in both West Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa according to the Times Higher Education World Best Universities Ranking 2025.
The university’s remarkable rating was revealed at the 19th Convocation ceremony, which took place on the Ota, Ogun State, campus.
Oyedepo created the university’s basic ideals by utilising the knowledge he acquired from these establishments, producing distinctive goods. He claims that this calculated strategy has paid off, as Covenant University continues to establish itself as a preeminent educational establishment in Nigeria and throughout West Africa, offering students an excellent education. “While nothing was copied, those studies provided a great deal of inspiration,” the speaker stated.
“This ultimately led to the crafting of our core values, making our products very unique.” “It became my passion to offer these young people a high-quality alternative education that would save them from lifelong crises.”
