China has reaffirmed its commitment to working with Nigeria to improve food security through mechanised agriculture. This was underlined at the 2025 Zoomlion Agriculture Machinery Exhibition and New Distributor Channel Fair, which took place recently at the China-Nigeria Agricultural Technology Demonstration Centre in Ushafa, Abuja.
The RK 754-A and RK 504-A tractors, made by Zoomlion in China, were on display at the event. Jerry Wu, Zoomlion’s marketing director, emphasised the tractors’ efficiency and cost-effectiveness. “Our machinery is designed to help farmers achieve higher yields and contribute to Nigeria’s food security,” he said, emphasising the tractors’ durability and easy availability to spare parts.
Also addressing, Hillary Aroboinosen, Principal Agricultural Engineer at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, emphasised the federal government’s commitment to mechanisation projects.
He stated, “The importance of mechanisation in transforming agriculture cannot be overstated.” Modern machinery bridges the gap between subsistence and commercial agriculture, assisting farmers in addressing difficulties such as climate change and expanding population demands.”
Aroboinosen further stated that the Ministry’s strategic programs aim to enable the acquisition of affordable machinery for farmers, particularly small-scale operators, as well as promote training to guarantee that the equipment is used effectively. Buba Galadima, a social critic and politician, emphasised the necessity of mechanisation in providing food security, creating jobs, and increasing Nigeria’s economy.
The expo finished with the signing of contracts between Zoomlion and new distributors, a crucial step towards developing China-Nigeria agricultural cooperation.
