The Pulitzer Center is currently accepting applications for its Africa Climate and Environment (ACE) Micro Grants 2025, offering grants ranging from $2,500 to $3,000 to support community-led outreach projects across Africa that creatively integrate Pulitzer Center-supported journalism to engage audiences on climate and environmental issues.

Eligible Applicants: Africa-based organizations, including grassroots movements, youth groups, civil society organizations, and social enterprises with a track record in climate and environmental work

Focus Areas: Projects must align with one or more of the following themes:

Climate and Labor: Exploring the intersection of climate change and labor, including challenges faced by vulnerable communities and the business sector’s response to climate-related impacts on workers’ rights

Rainforest: Addressing critical issues and solutions in tropical forests, such as deforestation, biodiversity loss, and the effects on Indigenous and local communities

Ocean: Highlighting pressing issues like overfishing, marine pollution, and the climate change impacts on ocean ecosystems and coastal communities

Project Requirements: Proposals must creatively integrate at least one Pulitzer Center-supported story and target young professionals or communities on topics including rainforest, ocean and marine protection, and the impacts of climate change on labor and workers

Types of Activities Supported: Examples include multi-stakeholder dialogues, community engagement initiatives, knowledge-sharing activities, exhibitions, forums, and campaigns designed to mobilize communities and encourage platforms for community members to voice, engage, share, and act for the mutual benefit of their own communities.
