Airtel Africa Plc has officially appointed Sunil Taldar as the managing director and chief executive officer. Taldar will succeed Mr. Ogunsanya upon his retirement. Taldar, who joined Airtel Africa in October, will undergo a transition period working alongside Mr. Ogunsanya before officially assuming the role.
During the transition, Mr. Taldar will be appointed as an executive director to the Board. The official commencement of his CEO role is scheduled for July 1, 2024. At that point, Mr. Ogunsanya will step down from the Board and retire from the company.
Mr. Ogunsanya, who has been with Airtel since 2012, led the Nigeria operations for nine years before taking on the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Airtel Africa group in 2021.
