The Aig Foundation has achieved a significant milestone by successfully training a cohort of 101 public servants through its AIG Public Leaders Programme (PLP), underscoring the foundation’s steadfast commitment to enhancing the capabilities of public servants in their workplace roles. This accomplishment aligns with the foundation’s broader vision, which entails training more than 30,000 public servants over the next three decades.
In collaboration with the esteemed University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government, the PLP is a comprehensive executive program designed to empower high-potential African public servants with the essential skills required to cultivate cultures of excellence, effectiveness, and integrity within their respective organizations. Delivered over seven weeks, the program employs a blend of synchronous and asynchronous methods, featuring two live sessions held in Abuja, AIG foundation.
Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, the Chairman of the Foundation, articulated the organization’s mission to facilitate the development of a robust public sector in Africa capable of delivering critical goods and services such as healthcare and education to citizens, thereby enabling them to lead dignified lives comparable to those in developed economies. He emphasized that, regardless of philanthropic efforts, the key to providing these essential services sustainably and effecting transformative change in the lives of citizens is through a well-functioning public sector led by capable public servants.
Encouraging participants to recognize the profound impact they can have as public servants, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede urged them to embrace every opportunity to contribute to building a more efficient and effective public sector for the benefit of the people they serve.
