The fundamental motivation behind Awele Chiedu is a sincere desire to help young people reach their greatest potential in life. Over the past 20 years, one of her main goals has been this. “If you cut me, I will bleed teens and young adults,” she said. I enjoy watching them grow and fulfil the purpose that God has given them.
A professional accountant with over 25 years of experience working in both corporate America and Nigeria, Aunty Awele is affectionately called by the younger generation.
Her passion to teach financial literacy to teenagers and young adults is fuelled by her years of expertise in financial audit and analysis. She feels that financial literacy is an essential component of youth development in this age group.
She oversees the finances as the Chief Financial Officer of Emval Nigeria Limited and provides consulting services to other organisations when she isn’t working on her youth-focused projects. She graduated from Manhattanville College with a bachelor’s degree in finance and from the Zicklin School of Business at City University of New York with master’s degrees in accounting and business administration.
Wimbiz (Women in Management, Business, and Public Service) counts Awele as an associate member. In 2018, she and her friend founded the Rhyme and Reason club, which resulted in the first spoken word and rap stage play ever staged in Africa. She keeps calling conferences, seminars, and other activities for teenagers and young people.
