The Transmission Company of Nigeria has been requested by the Aba Landlord Protection and Development Association to immediately overturn the decision to disconnect Aba Power Limited Electrical from the national grid, Entrepreneurng report.
The organization accused the TCN of breaking the market regulations for the power operation in a letter it sent to the market operator, Dr. E. A. Eje, which was made accessible to our correspondent on Friday.
The letter, which was signed by the president of ALPADA, Alphonsus Udeigbo, and three other people, warned that energy users in Aba would stage a peaceful protest against TCN if the firm didn’t rescind the restriction.
In his lamentation, Udeigbo asserted that Aba’s residents and business owners have lost more than N30 billion since the city was plunged into darkness.
In addition, he asserted that many people had died as a result of power outages in city hospitals, highlighting the fact that the TCN’s action had no human face.
“It has come to our attention that your company was allegedly in violation of the market rules when the Electricity Company Limited (APL) Electrical disconnected power supplies in Aba and its environs via disconnection order MO-DO/TCN/002/2023.”Although it is outside of our purview to speculate as to the cause of the disconnection order, we firmly believe that the said order was in flagrant violation of the market regulations.”
“First, an APL Electrical suspension notice dated April 19, 2023, was sent to the company, demanding it to correct a default within 30 working days of the notice’s date by rules 46.3.3 and 4 of the electrical industry market rules from 2010.”
But oddly, on the same day as the suspension notice, the market operator sent a letter to TCN’s executive director informing him that APL Electric has been disconnected due to noncompliance, without copying or otherwise informing anyone of the intention to cut off power to all of Aba and its surroundings.
Given the situation, the Aba Landlord Protection and Development Association, on behalf of the electricity users in Aba and the surrounding area, hereby demands that you lift the aforementioned disconnection order MO-DO/TCN/002/2023 within 24 hours of receiving these demand letters for failing to comply with both the market’s rules and the details of your suspension notice.
In conclusion, take note that if you don’t revoke the order within the allotted time, electricity consumers who have been forced to endure the consequences of your action by being left in the dark for more than a week will be left with no choice but to stage a peaceful protest outside your office in Alaoji Aba and inform the public through the media.
