The winner of the 2023 presidential election, Bola Tinubu, and his vice-presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima, have been given Certificates of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of INEC, presented the CoR on Wednesday afternoon at the International Conference Centre in Abuja, which served as the location for the collation of election results.
The All Progressives Congress candidate Tinubu won the presidential election with 8,794,726 votes, defeating Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party in second place with 6,984,520, Peter Obi of the Labour Party in third place with 6,101,533, and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party in fourth place with 1,496,687 votes.
The President-Elect, who was supported by his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, when he accepted the CoR, reaffirmed his commitment to the youths and pledged to fight to improve Nigeria.
“I will work day and night for you the people, especially the youths,” declared Tinubu. To the best of my ability, I will endeavor to improve Nigeria.
“This cannot merely be a win for one man or even one party; it must be a victory at all. All Nigerians devoted to a better society must see it as a victory.
“To those who chose not to support me, I implore you not to let the disappointment of this moment prevent you from realizing the historic national progress we can accomplish by combining hands and hearts in a joint effort to save this country,”
In essence, I am asking you to work with me, the President-elect said in a statement to Nigerians and opposition parties. Even though I may have won the election for president, I still need your help. Yet, Nigeria needs you more.
“My door and heart are wide open to you. I invite you in so that we may start rebuilding our country’s house together, day by day and brick by brick.
However, he Indulged that all should build the country’s prosperity and jobs where there is poverty. Also, Let’s feed the people in areas where there is a hunger to eliminate it.
Let us rediscover abundance where there is currently a shortage. May we bring brotherhood where there is harshness? May we establish peace where violence reigns? May we build enduring monuments to kindness and unwavering affection where others have built temples to prejudice and evil.
In conclusion, It was seen that a huge crowd of fans and party members attended the event, including Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiama, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha, and a host of other notable dignitaries.
