A Luxembourg-based space biotechnology firm, Exobiosphere, has secured a $1 million investment after winning a global venture capital competition organised by American billionaire Tim Draper.
The company emerged winner of the “Meet the Drapers” competition, a televised investment platform hosted by Draper, with the announcement made following the show’s latest episode.
Chief Executive Officer, Kyle Acierno, described the funding as a strong endorsement of the company’s vision, noting that Draper is known for backing transformative innovations early.
Exobiosphere focuses on accelerating cancer research by leveraging space-based experiments. The firm builds on findings that cancer cells develop significantly faster in space, enabling quicker testing and results compared to Earth-based studies.
Its compact, fully automated laboratory systems—small enough to fit in a cabin-sized box—conduct experiments on live cancer cells and transmit real-time data back to Earth.
The latest investment adds to the company’s growing profile, having also won Luxembourg’s Startup World Cup in 2025.
The breakthrough highlights increasing global interest in space-driven medical research and positions Exobiosphere among emerging innovators pushing the boundaries of biotechnology.
