The Abia State Government has officially opened applications for the second edition of its TechRise digital training program—an ambitious initiative targeting the empowerment of 850 young people across the state with globally relevant tech skills.
The program, launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, and the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, seeks to transform the digital future of Abia State.
According to the announcement, 50 qualified participants will be selected from each of the state’s 17 Local Government Areas, making up the total cohort of 850 beneficiaries.

The free training will cover a broad range of in-demand technology fields, including:

Cybersecurity

Full-stack development (JavaScript & Python)

Mobile app development
-
Data engineering
-
AI and machine learning with Python
-
UI/UX design
-
AI prompt engineering
-
3D animation and game development using Blender and Godot
A government spokesperson emphasised the importance of the initiative, stating, “Our goal is to provide Abia youths with the tools to thrive in today’s global tech economy. This is more than a training program—it’s a digital empowerment movement.”
Who Can Apply?
Eligible applicants must:

Be between 16 and 40 years old

Have basic computer literacy

Provide a valid NIN and ABSSIN for identity verification
