In a bold move to reshape U.S. immigration policy, President Donald Trump has launched an exclusive residency permit dubbed the “gold card,” priced at $5 million per applicant.

Positioned as an elite alternative to the traditional green card, this initiative seeks to attract high-net-worth individuals and investors willing to contribute significantly to the American economy.

During the announcement, Trump presented a prototype of the card featuring his image alongside the inscription “The Trump Card.” Exuding enthusiasm, he declared, “I’m the first buyer. Pretty exciting, huh?”

According to the president, the visa program is expected to be available “in less than two weeks.” He previously suggested that revenue from the initiative could play a role in reducing the national deficit.

Trump, a billionaire and former real estate mogul, has maintained a hardline stance on illegal immigration, advocating for mass deportations in his second term.

However, this new residency pathway caters specifically to those who can afford it, offering a route to U.S. citizenship based on financial capacity.

Back in February, he hinted at the ambitious scale of the program, stating that his administration aimed to sell “maybe a million” of these special permits.

When pressed about potential beneficiaries, he did not exclude the possibility of Russian oligarchs securing a spot in the program.

This development underscores a shift in U.S. immigration priorities, placing a premium on economic contributions while debates over border control and legal entry continue to shape national discourse.
