Samsung Electronics has confirmed the passing of its co-CEO, Han Jong-Hee, who died of cardiac arrest on Tuesday at the age of 63.
A veteran of the South Korean tech giant, Han dedicated over 37 years to the company, playing a crucial role in shaping its consumer electronics and mobile divisions. Appointed as vice chairman and co-CEO in 2022, he worked alongside Jun Young-Hyun, who currently leads Samsung’s semiconductor business.
Throughout his career, Han was instrumental in propelling Samsung’s television division to global dominance. Under his leadership, the company strengthened its position in the competitive electronics market, navigating challenges while driving innovation.
Han’s journey with Samsung began in 1988 after earning a degree in electrical engineering from Inha University. Before assuming his top executive role, he led the company’s display operations, contributing to advancements in screen technology.
As of now, Samsung has not disclosed any plans regarding his succession.
