Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh is a dynamic force in leadership and innovation, leaving a remarkable imprint on Africa’s corporate and technology landscape.

Her recent appointment as the Regional Head for North, East, and West Africa at IBM marks a significant milestone, making her the first woman to assume this position on the continent.

 

A Profile in Excellence

A distinguished Ghanaian business leader, Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh is the Founder & CEO of Brainwave Tech Africa, a company driving technological advancements across Africa.

Before her latest role at IBM, she played a pivotal role at Microsoft as the Strategic Partnership Lead for Africa, demonstrating her expertise in fostering business growth and digital transformation.

Educational Background

Kyerematen-Jimoh boasts an impressive academic pedigree, having studied at Harvard Business School and London Guildhall College, where she earned a BA in Marketing and French.

She is also an alumna of Wesley Girls’ High School and Achimota School in Ghana. Outside her professional endeavors, she is a devoted mother.

A Stalwart in Business and Technology

With a career spanning two decades, Kyerematen-Jimoh has accumulated vast experience in the financial services and technology industries across Africa and Europe.

She joined IBM in 2011 as the Territory Marketing Manager for West Africa before advancing to Strategy Leader for IBM’s Central, East, and West Africa operations, stationed in Nairobi, Kenya.

Between 2021 and 2025, she contributed her expertise as a board member of the Bank of Ghana, supporting policy formulation under the leadership of Dr. Ernest Addison.

Her career trajectory also includes tenure in the UK, where she worked at UBS Investment Bank and ABN AMRO Bank. In 2022, she took on the role of Africa Strategic Partnerships Manager at Microsoft’s Africa Transformation Office (ATO), an initiative focused on enhancing digital infrastructure, skills development, and entrepreneurship across the continent.

Breaking Barriers at IBM

Now at the helm of IBM’s operations across more than 40 African nations—including Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Senegal, Uganda, and Tunisia—Kyerematen-Jimoh’s leadership underscores the company’s commitment to advancing technology on the continent.

Her prior role as Chief of Staff to the Senior Vice President of Global Markets and Sales at IBM’s New York headquarters further cemented her expertise in global business strategy.

Recognitions and Achievements

Her groundbreaking career has earned her numerous accolades, including the Global Impact Leadership Award from the US African Women Forum and the Corporate Personality of the Year Award from Glitz Africa.

She has also been recognized among the Top 50 Corporate Women Leaders in Ghana (2016), Forbes Afrique’s Top 50 Women Managers in Africa (2023), and Avance Media’s Top 100 Most Influential Women in Africa (2020).
