In 2024, Dr. Obadare Peter Adewale, Founder and Chief Visionary Officer of Digital Encode Limited, became Nigeria’s first Professor of Practice in Cybersecurity. This distinguished award is bestowed upon specialists who have achieved remarkable results and have extensive expertise in their disciplines.
Dr. Adewale Obadare , who was voted Forbes’ Best of Africa Outstanding Digital Trust Leader, received an appointment letter from Miva Open University in Abuja. The letter, dated July 1, 2024, was signed by Iheanyi Akwitti, the university’s registrar. The role acknowledges his global expertise in digital trust, cybersecurity strategy, and governance, risk, and compliance (GRC).
Dr. Obadare will use his academic expertise and practical experience to teach students about cybersecurity in real life. He will concentrate on critical areas such as computer system protection, security vulnerability identification, cybercrime investigation, and risk management.
This program is led by Miva Open University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Tayo Arulogun. It will provide students with hands-on experience, connect them with industry leaders, and prepare them for careers in the burgeoning sector of cybersecurity.
Who Is Dr. Obadare Peter Adewale?
Dr. Adewale Obadare is an award-winning cybersecurity specialist and digital trust pioneer. He holds over 58 international qualifications, including an MSc in Cybersecurity from Liverpool University and an Honorary Doctorate in Cybersecurity from Trinity International University of Ambassadors, USA.
He is a Fellow of several prestigious institutions, including the British Computer Society (FBCS), the Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC), the Institute of Information Management (FIIM), and the Enterprise Security Risk Management Institute.
Dr. Obadare was the first PECB Certified Data Protection Officer (CDPO) in Nigeria, the first EC-Council Licensed Penetration Tester (LPT), and the first EC-Council Certified Blockchain Expert in the continent. He is also one of Africa’s two COBIT 5 Certified Assessors and a Qualified Security Assessor for the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). In 2023, Forbes named him the Best of Africa Outstanding Digital Trust Leader.
