The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has come under fire from the All Progressives Congress (APC) for blaming President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s policies for the recent deadly stampedes in Ibadan, Abuja, and Anambra.

APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka charged the PDP for using the national tragedy for political ends in a statement issued on December 23, 2024.

Morka underlined that the PDP decided to politicise the incidents by placing the blame on the current administration rather than expressing sincere sympathies to the victims and their families.

Morka also cited an event that occurred in 2014 while the PDP was in power, in which a stampede during a Nigerian Immigration Service recruitment event in Abuja left several people dead and injured. According to him, the PDP’s recent accusations are a reflection of its own past poor leadership.

Morka cited a number of initiatives to support President Tinubu’s dedication to the welfare of Nigerians, including grants for small businesses and farmers, salary reviews, the creation of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and the Credit Corps program, and investments in alternative energy sources.

He claimed that these initiatives show the administration’s commitment to enhancing the country’s economy and residents’ quality of life.
