The Presidency has dismissed analogies to Ghana’s recent election, in which the ruling party lost, and stated its confidence that President Bola Tinubu will be re-elected in 2027.

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser on Public Communication and Media, highlighted that Tinubu is committed to governing and solving the everyday problems of Nigerians, which he feels would get him a second term.

Opposition leaders, such as Chief Bode George of the PDP, have challenged this optimism, claiming Tinubu will not be able to win a second term.

The Presidency’s position has also drawn criticism from the Arewa Consultative Forum and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who have urged the administration to put good governance over electioneering.

Bwala said that the administration is not sidetracked by opposition strategies and is dedicated to enhancing the lives of Nigerians.

He said he is confident that the people will support Tinubu’s reelection in 2027 and acknowledge the government’s efforts.

His words: “So, the time for politicking is not yet and when that time comes we are going to be ready for everyone.

“And God willing, if God gives Mr. President life and health, we do hope that Mr. The President will run his course as provided by the constitution”.

With the opposition calling for change and the ruling party secure in its accomplishments, this discussion emphasises the political tensions leading up to the next election.
