Grid failures cost Kainji and Jebba power stations approximately N30.5 billion between 2022 and 2024.
The continuous failure of the national grid was the cause of the sum incurred as external losses.
Recall that last Thursday was the most recent disruption to the national grid, the eleventh failure in 2024 that has affected livelihoods and commercial operations.
Stakeholders, including the Transmission Company of Nigeria and consumers, have bemoaned the impact of the collapse on economic activity.
The federal government has attributed the national grid’s repeated breakdowns to the devastation of electrical infrastructure, including transformers and transmission towers, as well as outdated equipment in transmission substations.
