The average price of cooking gas, also known as liquefied petroleum gas, increased from N6,699.63 in September 2024 to N6,915.69 in October 2024, a 3.32% monthly increase.
According to Nairametrics, this is in line with the most recent Cooking Gas Price Watch data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The price of cooking gas increased by 51.58% year over year, from N4,562.51 in October 2023 to N6,915.69 in October 2024.
Residents in the northeast pay the highest prices for cooking gas, according to the statistics, which also shows that the region’s average price was the highest.
The research found that the average cost of a 5 kg LPG cylinder in the Northeast was N7,319.03.
On the other hand, the average price in the northwest was N6,703.95, which is less than the national average.
State-by-State Analysis
A state-by-state breakdown for October 2024 was also included in the report.
- Refilling a 5 kg cooking gas cylinder cost N7,939.29 in Borno, N7,580.00 in Yobe, and N7,578.00 in Benue, which was the highest average price.
- The lowest average price, however, was N6,270.00 in Katsina, N6,410.71 in Zamfara, and N6,427.78 in Delta.
