More than 72% of polling unit results from Saturday’s Ondo State governorship election had been published to the Independent National Electoral Commission Result Viewing (IReV) online as of 4:50 p.m., according to a Vanguard Online analysis.
The most recent upload, according to the portal, occurred at 4:50 p.m. As of 4:50 p.m., Vanguard discovered that 2,852 out of 3,933 polling unit results had been uploaded to the IReV portal. Meanwhile, INEC announced that 3,823 (97%) of the 3,933 polling stations in Ondo’s 18 local government areas were open by 8:30 a.m. The remaining 110 polling stations opened between 8:31 and 10:00 a.m.
Speaking on the ongoing election, PeoplesDemocratic Party (PDP) candidate Mr. Agboola Ajayi voiced unhappiness with the poll’s conduct in Kiribo, Ese-Odo Local Government Area. He reported that it took more over ten minutes for the INEC BVAS to acquire his biometric information, adding, “The system is corrupted. We have received numerous reports of vote buying and BVAS concerns. This is an extremely shameful exercise.”
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, expressed satisfaction with the election’s conduct after voting at Polling Unit 5, Ugbo Ward 4, Ilaje Local Government Area, around 8:50 a.m. He hailed the procedure as “encouraging,” stating, “It’s reassuring to see the exercise going smoothly here, and I hope this is reflective of the experience across the state.”
