The Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce, or NBCC, has announced plans to open a British trade hub in Nigeria, which will act as a resource centre for anyone interested in trade and investment in Britain.
Dr. Ebere Njokwu, Director General of NBCC, stated this at a media event in Lagos to announce plans to recognise individuals, corporate members, and non-members of the Chamber who have performed well during the first year of the incumbent president.
She stated, “Going forward, we are about to launch a British trade centre right here in the chamber to serve as a resource centre for anyone interested in trade and investment in Britain.” Open to both the public and members.”We are here to build partnerships between Nigeria and Britain that go beyond trade to include cultural and developmental exchanges.
“The honours to be presented are credible, and they will be handed to highly credible individuals under this administration. The event would feature cultural and musical highlights, as well as activities that would stand out under this administration within a year and a half.”
She stated that one of the administration’s accomplishments was the establishment of a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) for the skill development of women and youths, and that over 400 applicants have been screened, with approximately 300 shortlisted, and that the second cohort will graduate by the end of November.
Meanwhile, the 2024 annual Presidential Dinner and Awards to commemorate corporate leadership and bilateral trade connections are set to take place on November 20, 2024, at the Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Earlier, Mr Tajudeen Ahmed, Chairman of the Presidential Dinner/Awards, stated: “We use the dinner as an opportunity to speak with our stakeholders, Nigerian and British businesses, members and non-members of the chamber, to showcase what we have done in the past and what the chamber has for different stakeholders.”
