General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has cautioned Nigerians against making decisions that could lead them astray by sharing a personal story. Adeboye provided a crucial lesson for his fans in a recent post when he disclosed how his enthusiasm for the military led to his deception.
Adeboye related how a man contacted him posing as a paramilitary organisation representative and offering to take on the role of spiritual leader. Adeboye usually prayed for guidance from God, but his love of the military impairs judgement, therefore he accepted the post without due consideration. Adeboye granted the imposter’s request for funding after learning later that the man was a fraud.
Adeboye thought, “God had already planned for Redemption City to have its own corps of chaplains and a local Police post, but my desire to be a part of a paramilitary group made me run ahead of God.” He underlined that trying to elude God can have disastrous results, such as losing something valuable.
Citing Ecclesiastes 3:11, which states that “God makes everything beautiful in His time,” Adeboye emphasised the significance of having faith in God’s timeline. He urged his disciples to forgo worldly ostentations since doing so could deprive them of greater rewards from God.
Adeboye suggested that people follow God’s timing rather than trying to outpace Him. He gave us comfort in knowing that, as mentioned in Psalm 35:27 and 3 John 1:2, God takes pleasure in our prosperity and will bring about it in His own time. Pastor Adeboye’s emotional message serves as a reminder to believe in God’s perfect timing and seek wisdom in all situations.
