Biden, who is fully vaccinated and boosted, disclosed mild symptoms and has commenced treatment with the antiviral drug Paxlovid, as confirmed by his physician.
“I feel good,” remarked Biden to reporters in Las Vegas on Wednesday, flashing a thumbs-up before departing for his residence in Delaware aboard Air Force One. He will observe self-isolation by US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.
The president and his team have frequently pointed to recent campaign stops to prove his vitality as the presumptive Democratic nominee, seeking to ease concerns within the party. His scheduled appearance at the UnidosUS annual conference in Las Vegas was intended to highlight direct engagement with a diverse coalition.
However, news of Biden’s positive COVID-19 test abruptly halted the UnidosUS event, which followed a busy day of interviews and meeting voters at a local supermarket.
