NNPC Oil Production Limited announced on Sunday that its upstream subsidiary, NNPC Exploration and Production Limited (NNPC E&P Ltd), and Natural Oilfield Services Ltd (NOSL), a subsidiary of Sterling Oil Exploration & Energy Production Company Ltd (SEEPCO), have successfully started oil production at Oil Mining Lease (OML) 13 in Akwa Ibom State.
According to a statement issued by NNPC Oil Ltd’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Mr Olufemi Soneye, production began on May 6, 2024 with 6,000 barrels of oil and is scheduled to increase to 40,000 barrels per day by May 27, 2024.
He noted that “the first oil flow from OML 13 is a historic milestone in the partnership between NNPC E&P Ltd and NOSL, highlighting their dedication to driving growth and development in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, which remains a critical component of the country’s economy.”
“The accomplishment marks not only the conclusion of meticulous planning and execution by the teams involved, but also a new age of economic empowerment and development potential for the host communities.
“Furthermore, for Nigeria, the first oil from OML 13 is significant since it helps to the country’s attempts to enhance oil production capacity, which is critical for satisfying domestic energy needs and fueling economic growth.
