The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results, revealing that only 0.4% or 8,401 candidates achieved scores of 300 and above.
JAMB’s Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, made this announcement during a press conference held at the board’s headquarters in Bwari, on the outskirts of Abuja.
Key Details of the UTME Results:
- A total of 1.94 million candidates registered and participated in the examination conducted across 118 towns and over 700 centers nationwide.
- The UTME lasted from April 19th to April 29th. 80,810 candidates were absent, leaving 1,904,189 candidates to sit for the exam.
- Out of the 1,842,464 released results, only 0.4% scored above 300, while 24% scored 200 or above.
- A significant majority of candidates, 1,402,490, representing 76% of the total, scored below 200.
Additional Insights:
- Enrollment data revealed more female candidates than males, with 1,007,275 females (50.6%) registering for the UTME, surpassing the 982,393 males (49.4%).
- This marks a significant increase in female enrollment, with over one million girls registering for the examination, showing a 2% increase compared to the previous year.
Checking UTME Results:
- JAMB provided simple steps for candidates to check their 2024 UTME results. Candidates are advised to text UTMERESULT to 55019/66019 using the phone numbers they used to register.
- There is no need to visit any CBT center or cybercafé to check the results. Candidates who receive messages with their result details upon texting will know they have a result available.
