On Thursday, there was significant gasoline scarcity in Kaduna, with the majority of fuel stations not dispensing fuel, forcing those selling on the black market to raise the price to more than N1000 per litre of petrol.

The circumstance has put a strain on computers, as many people have been observed travelling to their various destinations due to a sudden increase in transportation costs.

Ahmad and Shehu, two State University students, claimed that prior to the scarcity, they paid N200 to go from Kawo to Kaduna State University, but today it costs between N300 and 400.

“Many have resorted to trekking in order to reduce the distance, but the hot weather has not made it easy,” she remarked.

Major roadways had less automobiles since the situation forced car owners to park their vehicles until fuel became more inexpensive.

However, there was a long queue at a petrol station in Kaduna North, where it was said that the pump price had been raised to between N750 and N810 per litre.

Due to scarcity, commercial operators increased the price of a travel from Signboard Junction to the Central Market from N150 to between 200 and 250.

Malam Sabo, a commercial bus driver, stated that he purchased fuel on the black market for N1,200 per litre and could only make a profit if he raised the transportation fare.
