Anticipation is mounting in Mexico, the United States, and Canada for Monday’s total solar eclipse, which will have millions of people looking upward to witness the uncommon spectacle.
The drama takes place when the moon crosses between the earth and the sun, completely obscuring the sun’s face and turning day into darkness. A blazing ring would appear to outline the moon.
The eclipse would begin over the Pacific Ocean and pass into northern Mexico before crossing the United States in the afternoon from Texas north-eastward to Maine.
It would then skim southeast Canada before ending over the North Atlantic.
The tight corridor includes big cities including Dallas, Indianapolis, Buffalo, and Montreal, which had a combined population of about 30 million people.
Eclipse chasers have traveled from far and wide to witness what NASA, the United States space agency, has dubbed a ‘cosmic masterpiece.’
“Eclipses possess a unique power. “They move people to feel a sense of reverence for the beauty of our universe,” NASA chief Bill Nelson remarked at a recent press conference.
The latest total solar eclipse in the United States happened in August 2017, in Mexico in 1991, and in Canada in 1979. Following Monday, North America would not see another until 2044.

However, the weather forecast is not especially favorable. Clouds, rain, and storms were predicted in many parts of the United States, with the greatest views expected in the northeast. Scientists have also prepared, with NASA watching, recording, and measuring the solar eclipse from planes and balloons.
NASA predicted the eclipse would be visible initially from Mexico’s Pacific coast at 11:07 a.m. (2009 GMT).
