Betta edu, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed that 50 bank accounts are being investigated as part of the continuing investigation against suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu.
The investigation also includes Halima Shehu, the former CEO of the now-suspended National Social Investment Program Authority (NSIPA). President Bola Tinubu dismissed Edu and Shehu around three months ago for alleged financial misconduct. Tinubu also halted the Social Investment Programme and directed the EFCC to take over the case and investigate both embattled officials as well as anyone else implicated.
Three months later, the EFCC’s executive chairman, Ola Olukoyede, who made the revelations, stated that the anti-graft agency was making progress on the probe, emphasizing the severity of the issue and the need for Nigerians to be patient.
Olukoyede said in the March edition of EFCCAlert, the commission’s monthly e-magazine, which was made accessible to Vanguard on Monday. “Nigerians should give us time on this problem; we have specialists on the case, and they must perform their jobs properly. “There are numerous leads here and there,” Olukoyede stated.

“We have laws and regulations that govern our investigations. Nigerians will also be aware that they have already been suspended, based on the investigations we have conducted, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated to Nigerians that he is prepared to fight corruption,” he continued.
