Dr. Gabriel Ogbechie, a distinguished Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), serves as the Founder and Group Managing Director of Rainoil Limited. Rainoil Limited boasts a diverse portfolio spanning the downstream oil and gas industry, agro-allied, and real estate sectors. Notably, the Group has achieved remarkable success, particularly in Nigeria’s downstream oil and gas sector, positioning itself as one of the industry’s most successful and rapidly growing operators in recent years.
A significant milestone in Rainoil’s trajectory was its strategic acquisition of Eterna Oil and Gas Plc in 2021, a move aimed at expanding the Group’s presence across the oil and gas value chain and enhancing sustainable growth and value creation for all stakeholders. Dr. Ogbechie’s leadership and vision culminated in his recognition as the Businessman of the Year in 2023, underscoring Rainoil’s industry competitiveness and its commitment to Nigeria’s energy sector evolution.
Over its 26-year journey, Rainoil Limited has expanded its asset base, including three state-of-the-art petroleum product storage depots in Oghara, Delta State; Calabar, Cross River State; and Ijegun Egba, Lagos State, with a combined capacity of 50 million liters. Additionally, the Group operates an 8,000 metric tonne LPG bulk storage facility in Ijegun, Lagos State.
As Group Managing Director, Dr. Ogbechie oversees a workforce of over 2,000 employees, driving the company’s strategic objectives and operational excellence. Hailing from Idumuje Ugboko in Delta State, he holds a degree in Production Engineering from the University of Benin and an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Technology Management from Novena University, Nigeria. He has also completed executive education programs at the Harvard Business School and the Lagos Business School.
