Lagos, Nigeria – From March 12 to 15, 2024, the 9th Edition of the Green Finance Conference and Trainings will take place in Lagos, Nigeria. Organized by the African Guarantee Fund (AGF) in collaboration with the Nordic Development Fund (NDF), this event aims to address the challenges posed by climate change, aligning with Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
The conference, sponsored by NDF, holds significant importance in bolstering African countries’ capabilities to secure financing for low-carbon development. It seeks to provide specialized knowledge to enable increased funding for initiatives supporting green growth.
A key focus of the conference is to offer practical insights for financial institutions on financing Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) committed to environmentally sustainable practices and climate-resilient development.
Franck Adjagba, the AGF Group Director of Business Development, emphasized the collaborative efforts with banks to ensure funding for eco-friendly micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria. He stated, “Our aim is to streamline financial support for green businesses within the country.”
“Nigeria’s active role in global climate discussions significantly influences AGF’s objectives, aligning with the country’s strategies towards addressing climate-related issues on a global scale,” he added.
