Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Lagos, and she was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1987. Beyond her academic achievements, Mrs. Walson-Jack is married to Hon. Nimi Walson-Jack, a former General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association and a prominent Civic Educator in Nigeria. The couple has two children, both of whom have followed in their parents’ footsteps and become lawyers.
Mrs. Walson-Jack’s journey into the realm of Permanent Secretary began in 2017 when she was first appointed by then-President Buhari. In her new capacity as the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs. Walson-Jack is expected to leverage her extensive experience and dedication to excellence. Her primary focus will be on working collaboratively with the country’s education ministers to elevate the standards and policies of Nigeria’s education system, aligning with President Tinubu’s overarching education agenda.
The significance of this appointment extends beyond Mrs. Walson-Jack’s individual achievements. It is perceived as a crucial stride toward achieving gender balance in the realm of Nigerian politics, reflecting President Tinubu’s commitment to fostering a governance structure that is both inclusive and competent.
In response to this historic appointment, Oraye St. Franklyn, a Canada-based leadership communications specialist, commended the Tinubu administration for its dedication to excellence and competence in governance.
