The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has issued a statement exonerating Erisco Foods Limited and confirming that its NAGIKO Tomato is fit for consumption. This comes in response to a complaint made by Chioma Egoji on September 17, who had raised concerns about the product’s quality on her Facebook page.
Following the complaint, the Erisco Foods Company faced public scrutiny, leading to legal action against the reviewer. In response to the situation, LASCOPA conducted laboratory tests on the NAGIKO Tomato to assess its safety and quality.
The General Manager of LASCOPA, Afolabi Solebo, stated in an official statement on the Lagos State government’s Instagram page that the product is safe for consumption and does not pose any health hazard to the public.
Erisco Foods CEO, Chief Eric Umeofia, expressed gratitude for the thorough investigation conducted by the Lagos State government. He acknowledged the vindication of the company, emphasizing that the agency’s independent investigation has cleared Erisco Foods of any wrongdoing.
This resolution by LASCOPA aims to assure consumers of the safety and quality of the NAGIKO Tomato product, addressing concerns raised in the public domain.
