The Governor of Niger State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, made a significant announcement on Tuesday, revealing his decision to augment the monthly allowance of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in the state by ₦10,000. This move, he articulated in a statement, coincided with the warm welcome extended to the incoming 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream II Corps members to Adamawa State.

In his message to the corps members, Governor Fintiri expressed heartfelt recognition for their dedication to the noble cause of nation-building. He underscored the importance of their role in shaping the future of the nation and conveyed his administration’s commitment to enhancing their stay in the state by providing an additional ₦10,000 in their monthly allowance.

The governor elaborated on the rationale behind this increment, citing the ongoing removal of the fuel subsidy and acknowledging the potential financial strain this might impose on the youth corpers. By introducing this supplementary allowance, Fintiri aimed to cushion the effects of the subsidy removal, demonstrating a proactive approach to addressing the economic challenges faced by the corps members.

Not stopping at financial support, Governor Fintiri also took steps to ensure a memorable and comfortable orientation experience for the youth corpers. He disclosed that he had directed the supply of essential food items to meet their basic needs during this crucial phase of their service year.

Beyond the material support, the governor imparted words of wisdom to the incoming corps members, urging them to actively engage in the community, foster connections, and discover their latent talents throughout the Orientation Course. In an inclusive gesture, he declared that Adamawa State embraces them as honorary indigenes, emphasizing the state’s openness to the diverse talents and contributions each corper brings.

Looking forward, Governor Fintiri expressed anticipation of witnessing the valuable contributions these corps members would make not only to the local community but also to the nation at large. His message concluded with warm wishes for all NYSC members, expressing hope for a fulfilling and enriching experience as they embark on their service journey in Adamawa State.
