Freight forwarders operating in the nation’s aviation and maritime sector are divided over a 100 per cent hike in cargo handling charges by the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company and the Skyway Aviation Handling Company Limited.
Two cargo handling companies, NAHCO and SAHCO, had recently slammed a 100 per cent hike in handling charges, a decision that was sternly opposed by the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents.
ANCLA members later shut down their operations at the airport in protest against the increase.
However, addressing journalists on Thursday in Ikeja Lagos, the President of the Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria, another agents’ body, Mr Frank Ogunojemite, said the association was not against the recent increase in tariff by the aviation handling companies.
