In Benin City, Edo State, a farmer named Friday Omosigho killed himself after machete-attacking his wife and leaving her for dead on the property, Entrepreneurng report.

According to a source, the incident took place in the state’s Ehiozevbaru Village within the Uhunmwode Local Government Area. Again, it was seen that the deceased accused his wife Mercy Omosigho of adultery.
The dead brought the problem to the village meeting, when some elders intervened to settle it, according to the source. He attacked his wife with a machete on the farm, apparently dissatisfied with the elders’ decision, and left her to die in a pool of blood.

Then, after telling his younger brother that he had killed his wife, he went home to drink himself to death.
The man allegedly consumed a substance believed to be the insecticide “sniper,” according to Chidi Nwabuzor, a spokesman for the Edo State Police Command, who confirmed the event.

He claimed that one Monday Omosigho called the divisional police officer of the Egba Police Division to report that his younger brother, Friday Omosigho, had attempted to kill his wife Mercy Omosigho over infidelity by stabbing her with a machete and then killed himself with drinking sniper.

He claimed that after arriving on the scene, the police found Friday’s body, who had attempted to kill his wife, and brought it to the mortuary.

“The still-living wife was brought to the hospital, where she is being treated.”

Nevertheless, the investigation into the matter is ongoing, and the case has been transferred to the homicide department of the state command,” the PPRO noted.
