Yoruba Students in Sudan Need Help From The South-West Governments

Nigerian students of Yoruba descent who are trapped in Sudan as a result of the conflict that has killed hundreds of people there and left many foreigners stranded have requested the assistance of the South-West governors for their evacuation, as captioned by the Entrepreneurng report.

The students, who were represented by the Yoruba Students’ Union in Sudan, specifically requested the help of the South-West governors in their nation over a potential exodus from Sudan.

Be in peace, my friend. In regards to the ongoing crisis in Sudan, which has now moved into a survival mode due to the intense civil war that has lasted for more than a week, the Yoruba Students Union in Sudan urgently requests that the Federal Government and South-West governors kindly come to our assistance.

As the violence, which began on April 8, approached its 15th day on Sunday, thousands of civilians were also displaced as they fled the city, of Khartoum.

The RSF paramilitary organization, directed by General Mohamed Dagalo, and the Sudanese Armed Forces, under the command of General Abdel al-Burhan, were previously allies.

On Saturday, the Federal Government of Nigeria declared all airports and land borders in Sudan blocked due to the complex emergency there caused by a continued conflict between opposing factions.

However, it noted that a search and rescue team had been formed to devise the most secure means of evacuating Nigerians trapped in the unrest-stricken country. The National Emergency Management Agency, which the government used to announce this, stressed that it was aware of the general public’s worry about the situation in Sudan.

The students cried out for assistance, saying, “We are appealing to the South-West governors to collaborate with the Federal Government in our possible evacuation from this war.”

In conclusion, they claim that due to the airport’s damage, air evacuation has been ruled out; instead, only land evacuation is feasible to nearby nations like Ethiopia or Djibouti, as other nationals have observed happening.
