Together, six outstanding artists will present their stunning modern landscape paintings.
The first physical exhibition organized by the New York-based artist development organization Visionary Art Collective is titled The Lens Through Which We See.
Each of the artists—Bri Custer, Colleen Gleason Shull, Julie Avisar, Ekaterina Popova, Amanda Hawkins, and Sarah Boyle—has a distinct perspective on nature that is colored by their individual experiences.
Visitors will be able to view the artwork at 72 Warren Street in New York City’s Tribeca district from April 20 to April 27.
After the extraordinary popularity of the platform’s virtual exhibition, curator and creator of the Visionary Art Collective Victoria J. Fry sees the exhibition as an exciting opportunity to present this work to the public for the first time.
Fry, an artist and educator, established the modern art platform in 2020 with the goal of advancing the careers of other artists through mentorship, as well as features in podcasts, exhibitions, and New Visionary magazine.
Fry highlights the influence of modern landscape painting by bringing together these six artists, who are all women.
“While deeply tied to a physical place, the work is transcendent, gesturing beyond what is seen to what is felt,” she said.
“Through particular attention to each scene and what it evokes, the artists meld the observable universe with individual experience.”
Each artist has the ability to make a powerful statement with their work, whether they work with oils or acrylics.
Each artist employs their painting skills to portray a scene that captivates the observer, from color selection to the use of light and shadow.
Other exhibitions are anticipated to take shape if their work is any indication of what Visionary Art Collective is capable of putting together.
