According to an Entrepreneurng report, Professor Rufai Alkali, the national chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, has submitted his resignation.
Alkali announced his decision to resign in a letter addressed to the party’s national secretary, citing the need to free up positions so that other leaders could take over and build on the achievements established during the brief time he served as the party’s national chairman.
“I am glad to write and express to you that I have stood aside as the National Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party with effect from today, Friday March 31, 2023,” said the letter with the subject line “Letter of standing aside from the post of National Chairman, New Nigeria Peoples Party.”
“After closely monitoring the developments leading up to, during, and following the recent general elections, which took place on February 25 and March 18, 2023, it is my humble opinion that our party, the NNPP, has a bright future and the potential to become the most powerful political force capable of winning the presidential and all other elections in 2027.”
“We must prepare and think ahead in order to do this. The moment has come. In order to strengthen its base, enhance operational capabilities, and generally increase competitive advantage over and above all other 17 political parties on the Independent National Electoral Commission nominal roll, our great party, the New Nigeria Peoples Party, will need major and fundamental structural, systemic, and organizational changes at all levels of the party.”
“Because we as a party all believe in and strive to improve Nigeria under the wise guidance of our leader, His Excellency, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, I think no sacrifice is too much from each and every one of us,” he said. I’m sure that I have to be the one to start this shift. And for this reason, I have made the responsible decision to relinquish my position as our party’s National Chairman, allowing other leaders to build upon and enhance our modest accomplishments. I regret not taking on more.
“Through this letter, I also wish to notify Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, our National Leader and presidential candidate, members of the National Working Committee, and all of our members across the nation that I am still and will remain a genuine member of our party and that I pledge to serve and offer support to our party at all levels to ensure the continued progress and advancement of our party.”
Nonetheless, during his tenure as the party’s chairman, he expressed special gratitude to Rabiu Kwankwaso, the party’s national leader, Bishop Isaac Idahosa, the vice presidential candidate, Chief Boniface Aniebonam, the board of trustees’ chairman; Buba Galadima, the board’s secretary; members of the national working committee; and all party members nationwide.
“I pray that God would shower you all with His merciful blessings and abundant favor. The New Nigeria Peoples Party is still alive. The Federal Republic of Nigeria will always exist.”
In conclusion, the letter, dated March 31, 2023, was also copied to the party’s national leader and presidential candidate for the 2023 elections, Rabiu Kwankwaso; the board of trustees’ chairman, Boniface Aniebonam; and the secretary, Buba Galadima.
