The 76 athletes who are scheduled to compete in 11 different events at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris have caused hope among their peers, according to Habu Gumel, President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, or NOC.
Speaking on Saturday at the Olympic Day Celebration in Taraba State’s capital city of Jalingo, Gumel expressed his confidence that Nigeria’s delegation will bring honour to the nation.
He clarified that the NOC’s goals are in line with the fact that these is the first Olympic Games to have complete gender parity.
Gumel reassured sports fans that the players will serve as an inspiration to both the country and their global fan base.
In his speech at the occasion, Taraba State Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas stated that his administration will keep promoting active lifestyles, enhancing sports facilities, and helping young athletes in order to create a stronger and healthier community.
Joseph Joshua, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, urged the Nigerian delegation to the Olympics to maintain their resolve and focus.
